Grooming operations end for the season

After one last go-round, Aaron and Tod pulled the ginzugroomer off the trails for the season.  Mary and Marty pulled stakes and posts on Eric’s Loop. The snowpack is thin in spots. Spring snow conditions exist, please use caution if you choose that route.

Stakes, posts, and signs on all other trails will be pulled on the weekend of April 7-8.

About 6 to 8 inches of snow fell on the West Elk trails and settled to about 4 inches. Aaron groomed trails on Saturday. The snow is crusty on top and soft underneath. The trails are fast.

Temps continue to be well above freezing during the day and much colder at night.

Aaron’s grooming report

Last night’s storm treated us to 4 inches of fresh snow on the West Elk trails. I groomed Hwy 819, Kay’s, Zeus’, Eastern Cutoff, and the meadow loops. I did not groom Erik’s loop, and there were no tracks on it as of yesterday afternoon, so fresh tracks are up for grabs! James’ loop has not had any tracks on it either.
