Yup. It’s still Winter up on the West Elk trails!

Trail Conditions: See Friday’s (previous) post. Aaron Mattix groomed all trails on Friday.  He also machine packed the entrance to James’s Loop to the hilltop so all you back country fans can go nuts.  Presumably James’s Loop has been partially tracked.

Today, Saturday, February 25:

Powder. A couple inches of fresh powder fell on the freshly groomed trails which made for a lovely powder day.  Frigid temps are keeping the snow cold and dry which makes for excellent skiing conditions. Not too fast. Not too slow. Just right.

Cold. Temps remained stubbornly between 11 and 13 degrees at the trailhead. Snow flurries and blustery winds persisted throughout the day without much accumulation. The woods were the best place to find shelter from the wind.

Go outside and play!
