West Elk snow and trails report for 2/22/17 from Bruce Kime

I skied 819 road and Kays yesterday and there had been 3-4″ of new snow since the weekend. Parts of it had sun-crusted already, but other parts were dry powder. I wax skis for grip and I used a base layer of blue extra covered with 1 layer of purple and it worked pretty well, though I slipped up steeper sections of hills a bit.

Last night at my house in Grass Valley (6509′) we had rain, then snow. 3″ of snow, so I’m pretty confident that the trails received much more than that.

Despite the “brown-out” conditions in our towns, the snow on the trails is great! Have Fun!
