Epic day for powder hounds!

West Elk Kay's 01-17-16

Six to 8 inches of snow fell on Hwy 819 and Kay’s Loop. At least a foot out on Eric’s Loop. Temps ranged from mid-20s to low 30s today. Snow conditions are variable. It looks like a warm, wet snow fell first followed by a colder drier snowfall. The snow in the woods is powdery. But there are areas in the open where the snow is wet and sticky underneath.

Tod groomed Hwy 819 and Kay’s Loop. Eric’s Loop and Zeus’s Cutoff have been tracked by several skiers and snowshoers, but Tod ran out of daylight to pack Eric’s with the Bearcat.
