The Polaris -- our workhorse -- on Hwy 819

The Polaris — our old workhorse — on Hwy 819

Tod Tibbetts, Todd Kupka, Art Dahl, and Brian Schwarz spent the day opening the West Elk trails. We thank them!

Hwy 819 and Kay’s Loop have been packed with snowmobiles. Hunter traffic dug deep ruts on Hwy 819 which created an uneven grooming surface so it will require shoveling to level it out.

The plan is to open Eric’s Loop by Christmas. If anyone wants to break trail on Eric’s, have at it!

Snow depth is approximately 24-30 inches with no base yet. Temps hovered around 8 degrees at the trailhead today with light snow flurries and light winds.  More snow is predicted overnite and into Sunday.

West Elk Multi-Use Club thanks the Holy Cross Energy Round-Up Foundation for the $500 grant received last month.

Layer up and enjoy the bottomless powder!
