01_13_13  Cool Day at West Elk – Freshly Packed Trails
with Soft Snow on Top.

There was around 4-6″ of new snow late this week.  Bec ause of the wind that came along with the snow, Hwy 819 was a bit drifted, but Bruce Kime did some fine shovel work on Saturday in the drifted areas.  Edgar Davidson and Tod Tibbetts ran snowmobiles on all the trails today.  The temps stayed in the single digits all day, so the snow on the surface of the trails stayed soft.

The weather forecast doesn’t seem to have any large amounts of snow in the near future.  We can hope it warms up a bit.

We’ll be up on the trails next weekend finishing getting trail signs and additional markers out.

Bundle up and enjoy the fresh snow.
