WEMUC in the news

Hope you all had a great summer enjoying our Colorado outdoors.  On Monday, September 19, the Garfield County BOCC approved a $3,000 grant to fund WEMUC trails. And we made the news!

Group aims to promote trail system off Buford Road

The article states in error:  “The WEMUC also gets donations from municipalities throughout Garfield County, and from private donations”.

WEMUC operates on a $4,000 annual budget, which is funded by a $3,000 grant from Garfield County and approximately $1,000 in donations from trail users. The Club currently receives no funding from municipalities. The majority of West Elk trail users are from Silt, Rifle, New Castle, Glenwood Springs, and Carbondale. We would certainly welcome donations from those  municipalities.

We’re slowly gearing up for the upcoming season. Watch this space for the date of our upcoming Annual Meeting in late October. We will be organizing our grooming program. This year we hope to receive some trail maintenance assistance from our partners at the U.S. Forest Service-Rifle Ranger District. We will also discuss raising the volunteer membership donation to $25.00. Member comments and feedback are welcome.
