Free Outdoor Education Workshop

WEMUC member Bruce Kime is an Outdoor Education instructor at CMC. He is offering a two-hour field workshop on basic map and compass skills with an emphasis on useful topographic map features to know, reading the contours of the terrain, and the basics of compasses. He will supply maps and compasses. These skills will be combined with winter backcountry travel safety tips, such as keeping yourself “found,” what to do if you think you’re lost, terrain traps, and others.

The plan is to walk (or snowshoe) on Kay’s Loop. Please leave your dog at home for this workshop.
